Makers of the SEAS special education management systems, Computer Automation Systems to sponsor Feb. 29 luncheon, award and breakout session
Mountain Home, Ark. — Feb. 19, 2008 — Computer Automation Systems Inc. has partnered with the Georgia Federation Council for Exceptional Children (GACEC) to serve as the lead sponsor for the GACEC 2008 Annual Conference, Feb. 29 to March 1 at the Classic Center in Athens, Ga. Computer Automation Systems is the developer of the award-winning Special Education Automation Software (SEAS™), which is successfully used by Georgia districts to manage the individualized education plans (IEP) of more than 11,000 students.
The conference will kick-off the national Exceptional Children’s Week, a campaign initiated by the Council for Exceptional Children as a means to educate the public about children with disabilities and garner support for them and special education.
Luncheon and Awards
As part of its sponsorship Computer Automation Systems will host the GACEC luncheon on Feb. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At the luncheon, Computer Automation Systems will present a $1,000 scholarship to CEC’s “Yes I Can!” Award winner Samantha Simonton from Walton County Schools in Georgia. The Yes I Can! Awards honor students with disabilities who excel. The scholarship from Computer Automation Systems will help send Simonton and her family to the CEC Annual Convention & Expo in Boston, where she will accept the Yes I Can! Award for Academics. Simonton, a fourth grader, is one of 27 Yes I Can! Award winners selected for international recognition in nine categories.
Breakout Session and Exhibit
Highlighting the incredible value that software-based special education management systems such as SEAS bring to K-12 school districts, the GACEC conference will include an informative breakout session titled, “21st Century Solutions for Special Educators,” on Feb. 29 from 8:30 to 9:20 a.m. in Athena Ballroom I. In this session, participants will learn how the latest special education technologies can alleviate the burdens of excessive paperwork, complex reporting, compliance issues and caseload management.
According to Georgia educators, SEAS helps reduce the administrative burdens of paperwork and compliance so teachers have more time to focus on their real passion — helping children learn. One Georgia special education teacher said, “SEAS has made my workload much lighter. It has saved valuable time writing and updating IEPs.” A speech language pathologist said, “It has made my job so much easier. The time it takes for paperwork has been cut in half.” A guidance counselor said, “SEAS is a very user-friendly program. I have used about three different programs for IEPs and this one is the best.”
In conjunction with their certified business partner Excel Software Professionals Ltd. (ESP), Computer Automation Systems will demonstrate SEAS in the exhibits area of the GACEC conference.
